Money Smart Week 2025: Avo Vision and Afrika Tikkun Empower Youth
At Avo Vision, our mission is simple, to create meaningful, lasting impact through financial education that transforms lives. This vision came to life during Money Smart Week South Africa (MSWSA) when Avo Vision partnered with Afrika Tikkun to equip 90 young people, most of them women, with essential financial literacy skills.
Building Financial Foundations for a Resilient Future
In line with the 2025 Money Smart Week theme, “Smart Money: Financial Foundations for a Resilient Future,” Avo Vision delivered two modules from its flagship financial literacy programme, Money Modular, My Budget: Digging Deeper and Boosting My Income.
These sessions gave participants practical, hands-on tools to manage their money effectively, budget with confidence, and make informed financial decisions for a sustainable future.

Real Stories, Real Change
For 21-year-old Angel Mangangathi, the experience was transformative:
“I’m currently on a learnership and receive a stipend every month, but I have never thought of saving, even just R100. I always thought saving was for people who earn thousands, but this training has opened my eyes.”
Another participant, Thabile Moagi, highlighted the power of accessible, contextual learning:
“What really stood out for me was being trained about money in a language I understand, in the context I live in every day. From next month, I’ll start saving something, no matter how little, because I now understand the power of compound interest.”
Empowering the Next Generation of Money Smart Youth
According to Antoinette Mthetwa, Avo Vision Programme Manager, preparing youth for financial resilience is a long-term commitment:
“It’s essential that young people are equipped with the right tools to navigate the financial challenges that come with adulthood. That’s why Avo Vision has proudly been part of Money Smart Week South Africa since 2020. Over the years, we’ve expanded access to financial education, helping more South Africans make informed financial decisions and live better lives.”
A Legacy of Financial Literacy and Empowerment
Since its inception in 2009, Avo Vision has reached over 600,000 participants nationwide through financial education, life-skills training, and enterprise development programmes, with a goal of empowering one million people by 2030.
